To install your SANUS mount, you’ll need the following tools: - Electric drill - Phillip’s head screwdriver - Tape measure - Level - Pencil - Drill bit - Stud finder - Hammer (concrete installations only) And here’s everything that will come in your SANUS box: - Installation manual - Wall plate template - Hardware packs - TV bracket - Wall plate - Mount arm The steps in mounting your full-motion mount will vary slightly based on whether you have a single stud or dual stud mount. In the video, we show how to install a dual stud full-motion mount. Now that we know everything that we’ll need, let’s get to mounting the TV. Step 1: Attach TV Bracket to Your TV To get started with the first step, chose bolts that fit your TV. And don’t be overwhelmed, you won’t use all of the hardware that’s included. We just want to be sure you have the hardware that you need. Now, there are a few different types of TV brackets, TV brackets that come as one piece, and TV brackets that use extenders. If your mount includes a TV bracket with extenders, you’ll attach the extenders to the bracket based on your TV’s hole pattern. Refer to the install manual to find the correct TV bracket configuration for your TV. If your TV doesn’t have a flat back or you need extra space to accommodate cables, you’ll want to use the included spacers. Put the spacers between your TV and the TV bracket and insert screws using a screw driver. If your TV has a flat back, you won’t need the spacers. You can attach the TV bracket directly to the back of your TV. Just thread the appropriate length screw through the TV bracket and into your TV. Be sure not to overtighten as this can damage your TV. Step 2: Attach Wall Plate to the Wall: For optimal viewing from a seated position, you’ll want the center of your TV to be approximately 42 inches from the floor. For help finding the right height for your TV, visit the SANUS HeightFinder tool: 🤍 Simply enter the height of where you want your TV on the wall, and HeightFinder will tell you exactly where to drill your holes. Now that you know how high you want your TV, let’s find your wall studs. Use a stud finder – generally most wall studs are either 16 or 24 inches apart. Next grab the SANUS wall plate template and make sure the opening on the template overlap with your stud markings. Now it’s time to drill. Grab your drill and drill four pilot holes through the wall plate template openings into your studs. Next, grab your wall plate and align openings with where you drilled your pilot holes. Use your lag bolts to attach your wall plate to the wall using a socket wrench or a drill. Step 3: Attach the TV We’ll start by attaching the mount arm to the wall plate. Each SANUS full-motion mount has a locking mechanism to ensure the mount arm is securely in place. Consult your mount’s installation manual for the specifics on your mount. Now it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for, it’s time to put the TV on the wall. Depending on the size and weight of your TV, you may need a friend to help. Lift the TV onto the arm by attaching it to the hang tab and then resting the TV into place. Once your TV is hanging on the mount, lock the mount arm. Mounting a TV on an articulating mount comes down to a few basic steps and sound understanding of the wall you are mounting on. Sanus has always been at the forefront of the TV mounting game and they have had their shortcomings on certain mounts. While this mount is solid and I highly recommend it….. it still can freak people out a little when they get to a couple of points in the install. 1. The brackets on the TV connect to the holes on back of the TV. The plate that attaches to that is held by four little itty bitty screws. Sanus has to have someone that engineered this mount, smarter than me, so let’s assume they know these will never fail. 2. Then once you get this beast of a mount up, they have you balancing your brand new TV on a little 1.5 inch wide attachment point on the end of the arm. 3. The safety screw that holds it all together is, again, tiny and may concern the installer. In all 3 instances, I’ve found this mount to perform very well even with heavy tvs. I’ve installed up to 82” Samsung on this mount and there has never been any issue with its performance. Part of the recent office expansion here at Digital Trends included construction of a rather large kitchen and dining space. To finish it off, we mounted two of Vizio's 47-inch Razor LED TV's on the wall with articulating mounts from Sanus. To deliver great audio, installing sound bars on each set was the obvious choice. And that was made easy thanks to Sanus SA405 sound bar mount. It easily attaches to the TV mount and provides a place to simply hang the sound bar. We chose the Vizio 38 inch 2.0 Home Theater Sound Bar S3820w-C0. The process is very simple and only requires a screwdriver. 1. Attach the upper hanger arms of the sound bar mount to the back of the TV. To do this, loosen the bottom set of mounting screws which hold the wall mount to the TV. Adjust the sound bar hanger arms so they extend to the bottom edge of the TV. 2. Determine which set of mounting hardware fits the back of your sound bar. For the Vizio sound bar, we used the screws included with the sound bar. Refer to your sound bar's instructions for specific detail. Then attach the lower set of hanger arms for the sound bar mount. Tighten it so it's secure but has a bit of play. 3. Fit the upper and lower arms of the sound bar mount together, and use the provided nuts to secure the mounts together. Leave them just a bit loose. 4. Raise the sound bar up to the bottom of the TV and center it. Tighten the screws and nuts. 5. Attach the power cable and audio cable from the TV. Make sure to route the wires so they are secure but allow for full movement of the TV mount.
