A Russian soldier who was fighting in the trenches outside Bakhmut surrendered to Ukrainian forces and was led to safety by a drone piloted by the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. Yurii Fedorenko, who commands the 92nd’s Achilles drone company, wrote on his Telegram channel that one Russian soldier signalled to a hovering surveillance drone that he wanted to surrender but that his comrades would kill him. #GlobalNews #ukraine #bahkmut

An explosion is seen from aerial footage and the valuable Su-25M1 appears to have been obliterated. Russia has been accused of killing two surrendering Ukrainian soldiers in an apparent war crime. Footage shows a group of men in Russian uniforms opening fire from close range on the unarmed pair after they emerged from a dugout with their hands on their heads. The Ukrainian army’s strategic communications centre has said it possesses “confirmed information” that the video showed the “execution” by Russian forces of “unarmed soldiers”. Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office said on Sunday that it launched a pre-trial investigation “for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder”. It said the shooting happened near the village of Stepove in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. It did not say when the incident occurred. Ukrainian commandos battled Russia for control of the Dnipro River. First-person video revealed a scouting mission to the left bank, which is occupied by Putin’s troops but which Ukraine is attacking. It reveals a squad walking behind destroyed houses, when they are spotted by enemies who open fire on them. A fierce battle breaks out as the men wade through icy water to get to cover, as their squamates fire back at the Russians. It is not clear exactly when the footage was taken, but it comes amidst a Ukrainian push to take control of both sides of the Dnipro. Alma said she let the man in because she had seen him in the gym before. But as she was working out, Alma told investigators that the man approached her and grabbed her waist. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has returned home from a trip to Russia where he deepened “comradely fellowship and friendly ties” with President Vladimir Putin, state media reported. During Kim’s six-day trip to Russia, his longest foreign travel as a leader, the two countries said they discussed boosting their defense ties but didn’t disclose any specific steps. Foreign experts speculate the two countries, both locked in confrontations with the West, were pushing to reach arms transfer deals in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions. The official Korean Central News Agency in separate reports said Kim’s train crossed a border river on Monday morning and Kim was greeted by the “ardent” cheers of a huge crowd at a Pyongyang rail station Tuesday evening. Wednesday’s KNCA report said senior North Korean officials congratulated him on advancing relations with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the LGBTQ community is part of society while Russian authorities asked the Supreme Court to declare the LGBTQ 'movement' extremist. Speaking at the cultural forum in St. Petersburg on Friday, Putin said it's required to show the life of the LGBTQ community when competing at cultural contests in Western countries, but added that they have the right to do so. "This is also part of society, this is what people live for. It's only bad if they are the only ones to win the competition," Putin said. On the same day, the Russian Justice Ministry said it has filed a lawsuit with the nation's Supreme Court to outlaw the LGBTQ+ “international public movement” as extremist, the latest crippling blow against the already beleaguered LGBTQ+ community in the increasingly conservative country. The ministry said in an online statement announcing the lawsuit that authorities have identified “signs and manifestations of extremist nature” in “the activities of the LGBT movement active" in Russia, including “incitement of social and religious discord.” Russia's Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing to consider the lawsuit for Nov. 30, the ministry said. It is not yet clear what exactly the label would entail for LGBTQ+ people in Russia if the Supreme Court sides with the Justice Ministry, and the ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But the move in itself represents the latest, and possibly by far the most drastic, step in the decade-long crackdown on gay rights in Russia unleashed under President Vladimir Putin, who has put “traditional family values” at the cornerstone of his rule. A Russian local official has confirmed the death in action in Ukraine of Maj Gen Vladimir Zavadsky, reported by pro-Kremlin sources last week. Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev said Maj Gen Zavadsky, 45, died "in the line of duty" but gave no further details. On Wednesday it was reported that he had killed by a mine, but there were conflicting reports about where this happened. He is the seventh Russian general known to have died in the Ukraine conflict. Ukraine claims to have blown up a rail line deep inside Russia which is used to move military supplies, and connects to China. Security service sources said four explosive devices were set off which damaged a fuel train crossing the Severomuysky Tunnel. Video shows flaming wreckage scattered around the tracks as pro-Russian accounts said four fuel tanks were blown up. The apparent execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russian forces is unconfirmed, but it has nevertheless sparked outrage and prompted Ukraine’s chief prosecutor to launch a criminal investigation.
