In October of last year I did a collaboration with my friend 🤍EricaHughesArt and used her pouring medium recipe, made up of gel gloss and american Floetrol. I have used that pouring medium several times and really like it for several reasons, mostly its thick and creamy consistency and the gorgeous transparent effects it creates. It also dries with a beautiful finish. Since then I have used this recipe quite a bit and lots of my viewers have asked recently for a mixing video using the gel gloss and floetrol. I hope you find this video helpful and that you start thinking of your pouring medium in a different way. I am using Liquitex Gel Gloss and American Flood Floetrol today. The basic recipe is one part gel gloss to 4 parts floetrol. There are variables though, such as the consistency and thickness of the floetrol, and there are different kinds of gel gloss. I have used gel gloss, heavy gel gloss, extra heavy gel gloss and a few different brands of gel gloss. Since I am using the loosest and thinnest of the gel gloss today. my ratio is about one part gel gloss to 3 parts floetrol. If I was using the Extra Heavy gel gloss the ratio would be 1 to 4 parts floetrol. The thicker and heavier the gel gloss you are using, the more you will need to thin it out with Floetrol and water. Colors Golden - Prussian Blue Pebeo Studios - Iridescent Blue Green DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics - 24K Gold - Pearl Liquitex Basics - Deep Violet Pouring Medium: Liquitex Gloss Gel Floetrol water as needed There is NO Silicone in Any of My Paint. I am using some left over paints from my last pour, Spiral Shadow, to create a sandwich pour. Sandwich pours are a great way to use up small amounts of color that you may have leftover. I layer my cup with pearl white, then drizzle small layers of the colors before adding another layer of white, then more colors! We have a quadruple decker sandwich here now! Fluid Art Pouring Mediums / How I Mix My Mediums / Beginner Acrylic Pouring Tutorial I have gotten a lot of questions about the different pouring mediums i use and why. It was time to make a new batch of pouring medium, so i decided to film it. A lot of this is just the ramblings of a mad woman LOL! But there are a lot of newer artist our there in the fluid art world and i thought this might be useful. Almost all ingredients can be found in my amazon store linked below. The gloss medium and varnish i use is by creative inspirations, available at jerrys artarama. I use a different pouring medium for almost each pour i do. For most pours i use 1000ml of floetrol, 500ml of gloss medium and varnish, and 200ml of GAC 800. For cells with silicone i use: floetrol 1000ml, glue all 1000ml, 400ml gloss medium and varnish, 200ml of GAC 800 For dutch pours i use just a water normally (this does change as i experiment) Fort satin enamel i leave out the gloss medium and normally use just floetrol colander pour: 50/50 gloss medium and varnish and floetrol thank you to all that have supported my channel! Acrylic pouring for beginners - step by step. Here I want to show you what happens before and after my videos. I'll show you how a picture is created from start to finish including all the materials used. In the past I always used the Pouring Medium from one manufacturer, and the colors from other manufacturers. But I never had a suitable recipe, sometimes I needed more water or more color or Pouring Medium, depending on the supplier. Meanwhile, I'm not trying around, I'm committed to a manufacturer and have been using the materials of Royal Talens for some time. 🤍royaltalens.com The products are coordinated and offer me the necessary quality. Most colors of the Standard and Specialties series have a lightfastness of the colors of at least 100 years under museum conditions. In order to know how much I need, I use a kitchen scale and weigh the units in grams or ounce. To get cells, I mix in the acrylic paints a little silicone oil. Silicon oil, no matter where you buy it in the world have the same properties, only the CST value indicates how thin or viscous the respective variety is. I use CST 400 here. To remove air bubbles and to get more cells, I heat the picture briefly with a heat gun. After the picture has dried, I wipe the silicone residues from the picture with wet wipes. Finally, the picture is still sealed. The colors are again beautiful. So I have no brushstrokes on the picture I use a clearcoat for spraying. There are so many acrylic pouring mediums to choose from and everyone seems to have their favorite. As a beginner or novice acrylic pouring artist it makes it hard to decide which pouring medium you should be using. We break down 11 of the common pouring mediums available in the United States. This is definitely not all of them but it give you a good idea of what pouring mediums will work best for your budget and for the types of acrylic pouring techniques that you want to try. Each pouring medium gets graded on how well they mix with paint, how they dry, the colors they create, and their cost. Hello Friends! Today I'm pouring a big canvas and while I was mixing all my paint I thought I would show you how I do it. I'm using my Golden's Payne's Grey full bodied paint with Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish, some water and Floetrol. I love the little strainer I use for Floetrol, its wonderful! They arent expensive and really make a big difference! I wanted to have multiple cups of a couple of my colors, so rather than mix each one individually, I mixed a full cup of paint (as opposed to half a cup), then poured half of it into another cup, then I added the Floetrol to both cups.. easier, because now I know they are the same color and consistency. Time saver! I've been using the Gloss Medium & Varnish lately because I've been doing straight pours, and when I torch the pour the Liquitex really makes some gorgeous cells. Mieszałam medium z farbami w proporcji 1:1. W zależności od gęstości farby możecie zmieniać proporcje, a ich propozycje napisane są na opakowaniu. Ten preparat ma dodatkowo działanie powodujące pojawienie się komórek na powierzchni wylanej, natomiast są to komórki nieduże. Farbę wylewałam na kółeczkach z płyty MDF z Woodouts!, wy możecie wylewać na różnych innych powierzchniach, na przykład na płótnie. For my current acrylic pouring I only use water and acrylic paints - no pouring medium or other additives! Together with just four colors, a fascinating work of art is created. You want to try the acrylic pour painting yourself, but don't want to spend a lot of money - then this idea is just right for you! I used four beautiful acrylic paints from Royal Talens Amsterdam: Titanium white Oxide black Green Blue Azo yellow deep In addition a canvas 40 x 40 cm or 15.74 x 15.74 inches. My color recipe is very simple - two parts water to three parts paint. For the bright colors it was 40g water (1.41oz) and 60g paint (2.11oz) I needed a little more for the white - I used 80g (2.82oz) water and 120g (4.23oz) paint As a casting technique, I decided to use the paint-kiss technique, which is very simple with exciting results. I was interested to try it out, cause it's way cheaper than Floetrol. Personally I've never used any other Pouring Medium.. Floetrol has been my favourite. The Van Bleiswijck Pouring Medium is only €3, unbelievable! It does work for me, with Silicone. So I'm going to use it more often. I'll also do some more experimenting with the consistency. It should hold your pigment connection while thinning the paint down with water. There are some things to consider though picking your Pouring medium. Ready made from the shelf is the most expensive. Floetrol is somewhere in the middle but additional to having a little binders it's also a conditioner to get a creamy and more fluid concistency, Glue is the cheapest and a strong binder and also allows you to get the most volume out of paint as you can add quite a lot of water until it reaches the right concistency. So all works fine. Make yourself your own opinion. !BE careful when you use varnish spray. It´s better to do it outside or in the very well ventilated room.! This was a little experiment which ended up with beautiful result.
