Correction: Slight clarification on the Developing Tech slides: When I said "heat-seeking" I was referring to the new generations of air-to-ground anti-tank missiles with thermal seekers...NOT the classic HEAT round. This can get confusing. Most tanks use several types of rounds for different tasks, and the HEAT round, or the High-Expl0$ive Anti-Tank round is a common round that is used by tanks, to k1ll other tanks. Obviously, there is no thermal component to this...the round itself is unguided and cannot "home in" on anything. However, there are a lot of new munitions in the world (like loitering munitions) that are designed to target tanks by using a missile with a thermal seeker. This can target tanks in much the same way that traditional MANPADs target aircraft by homing in on the heat generated by the vehicles exhaust. But obviously, this is for air-to-ground targeting, or other non-tank systems. Perhaps not too common these days in actual warfare, but Russia has already developed several "heat seeking missiles" for targeting tanks, and these weird snorkel things might be a way of Russia trying out some new countermeasures. So for the meantime, tanks will have to continue using HEAT rounds (NOT heat-seeking rounds) to target other armored vehicles. But as far as to if this is a new countermeasure system, eh, who knows. Certainly not I (nor anyone else here), so this could all just be a farce. But it's good to be aware of, just in case. Oh, and while I'm at it, the cages on turrets are almost certainly useful for certain kinds of loitering munitions (at least in theory), which I am kicking myself for not mentioning. Loitering munitions are a MAJOR force-multiplier and are already becoming a massive threat for conventional forces, such as armored units. 00:00 - Intro 00:13 - Weather 00:46 - NOTAMs 01:07 - Civil Unrest Forecast 02:06 - Logistics 04:39 - Mandate Overview 09:41 - Critical Infrastructure Concerns 18:27 - Significant Governmental Actions 25:13 - Wikipedia 28:30 - Developing Technologies 27:05 - Mandate Resistance Impacts 36:55 - CONUS Deployments 39:42 - Mandate Trackers 41:59 - Mandate Failures 43:21 - International Issues 54:59 - Sources Wikipedia Article: 🤍 Just a few reminders for everyone who's just become aware of us, in order to keep these briefings from being several hours long, we can't cover everything. We're probably covering 1% of the world events when we conduct these briefings, so please remember that if we left it out, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's unimportant. Also, remember that we do these briefings quite often, so we might have covered an issue previously that you might not see if you are only watching our most recent videos. If we were to wait and only post a brief when it's "perfect" we would never post anything at all. So expect some minor errors on the slides here and there. If there is a major error or correction that needs to be made, we will post it here in the description, and verbally address it in the next briefing, whenever that is. When Apollo 13 lifted off from the John F. Kennedy Space Center on April 11, 1970 on America’s planned third visit to the surface of the moon, the general public greeted the event with a collective yawn. After just two manned visits to the moon the reaction by many to continuing lunar exploration was “been there, done that.” The major television networks broadcast the launch, as was customary, but declined to broadcast planned transmissions from the spacecraft as it journeyed to the moon, due to lack of viewership. After just four Americans had walked on the moon, the general public had lost interest. Continuing from part 1 (intro), we conduct a numerical simulation to calculate the average distance between two points in a unit disc. It turns out that the simulation is not as straightforward as you previously thought - it requires a bit of tweaking to sample points in the unit disc correctly. There will be concepts including inverse transform sampling, t-distribution, and t-tests in the video, with inverse transform sampling having a more detailed explanation, because it is a considerably simpler concept which doesn't require too much prior knowledge. There is also a passing mention of the Box-Muller transform, which is used as an example of the pitfall of the inverse transform sampling - even though it works for all distributions, sometimes it isn't computationally efficient. Even though this problem "highlights the unity and utility of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum" (from the paper below), I would assume you know nothing, so don't worry if you are not in university / have a degree in mathematics! If you are in college / university, hopefully the first few videos can be a nice revision and application of the concepts, and possibly a new perspective on the concepts. The paper that I am following (very readable, for an undergraduate at least): 🤍 I do notice that MindYourDecisions made a similar video (🤍 ) a few years ago but for a unit *square* instead. I still make this video series because (1) the unit disc version is much harder to tackle in the sense that we are not even attempting to evaluate the integral, and (2) Presh's video seemed to pull pdf's and Jacobian out of nowhere, which might be confusing to people who have not gone to college to study mathematics, and genuinely quite a different level of difficulty from his other videos, so I am going to actually explain what those are. Thank you so much for the overwhelming support for the video about the Dream Minecraft speedrun cheating drama! Hopefully this channel makes you like mathematics a bit more! CORRECTION 6:06 I said F^(-1)(Y) less than r, but actually should be x, as said on the screen, because my script has been revised. 8:11 I mean *sample size* not the number of samples. SLIGHT CAVEAT Technically, we should consider F(x) to be the probability that X smaller than *or equal to* x, because this will be different if the distribution does not have a well-defined probability density. In those cases, the inverse of F is not as straightforward, but we can still define the inverse. See the inverse transform sampling method Wikipedia page below. I might not have stressed enough, but it is shown on the screen, that in the general case, Y is a random number generator from 0 to 1. The range here is important because this will allow us to say that the probability that Y is less than or equal to F(x) is exactly F(x). After Vladimir Lenin died, there was no clear heir to the Soviet Union. The race for the position came between two men, Joseph Stalin, and Leon Trotsky. Correction: - Trotsky was not actually "Kicked out" of the Politburo in 1925, but he was stripped of all of his military power, while Stalin continued to block him in congress. Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes only. I am not a communist, and this video does not support any individual who appears in it. Notes: - Leon Trotsky was born Lev Davidovich Bronstein - Joseph Stalin was born Ioseb Besarionis dzе Jughashvili - Stalin, with Grigori Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev, formed a troika (council of three) in congress. This troika served to block Trotsky's congressional power - Both Zinoviev and Kamenev were killed in Stalin's purge - Trotsky and Stalin had clashed for many years before Lenin's death, leading to the creation of Trotskyism and Stalinism Sources: 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 Clips are from Associated Press, Reuters, and other sources. For a playlist of the entire History of California series: 🤍 After Alta California had been peacefully conquered in 1769, franciscan missionaries came to convert the indigenous population. They set up mission buildings all along the California foot path that came to be known as El Camino Real, or the king’s road. The first ones were in San Diego and Monterey, and they kept adding new ones year after year, eventually creating 21 with the last one finished 1823. references: Bancroft, Hubert Howe. Founded by Catholic priests of the Franciscan order to evangelize the Native Americans, the missions led to the creation of the New Spain province of Alta California and were part of the expansion of the Spanish Empire into the most northern and western parts of Spanish North American. The major coastal cities of California were originally founded as a mission or sub-mission, including San Francisco, Monterey, Los Angeles and San Diego. Following long-term secular and religious policy of Spain in Latin America, the missionaries forced the native Californians to live in settlements called reductions, disrupting their traditional way of life. The missionaries introduced European fruits, vegetables, cattle, horses, ranching, and technology. This missions have been accused by critics, then and now, of various abuses and oppression. In the end, the missions had mixed results in their objectives: to convert, educate, and transform the natives into Spanish colonial citizens. In 1821, Mexico achieved independence from Spain, taking Alta California along with it, but the missions maintained authority over native neophytes and control of land holdings until the 1830s. At the peak of its development in 1832, the coastal mission system controlled an area equal to approximately one-sixth of Alta California. The Alta California government secularized the missions after the passage of the Mexican secularization act of 1833. This divided the mission lands into land grants, which became many of the Ranchos of California.
