Chelsea & Tony Northrup talk to Chris Niccolls and Jordan Drake from DPreview TV about all the horrible mistakes we've made that have lead to broken camera gear. We've run over cameras with our cars, crashed drones into the water, dropped $10,000 lenses, and have endured all of the stomach-dropping moments no photographer wants to experience. At least we can laugh about it? Laugh with us as we relive our stupidity. Cry with us as we recall our follies. Learn from us by never repeating our mistakes.
Sadly, the decision has been made to end DPReview.com and DPReview TV. Chris and Jordan have the details. This isn't goodbye yet though, we still have some great episodes and articles on the way. If you want a nymph that sinks faster to the strike zone, and starts working effectively, sooner than any other fly, this is the one. Perdigon have a smooth shell, and heavy tungsten bead and body, which enable it to cut through the water. These are fun to tie too, and make use of UV activated gels to sculpt rugged, and vibrant designs. You can tie these in SO many colours and patterns for any situation. It might be the last nymph you ever need. Check out 🤍 for all the materials you need.
Chris from Bow River Troutfitters ties an incredibly effective pattern that shouldn't work as well as it does. The City Worker is popular here in Calgary on the Bow River as a stonefly pattern that can be dead drifted, twitched, or skated when the stones are hatching. It also makes an excellent late season hopper pattern. This is one fly where we don't recommend changing colours or materials too much. Stick to the tried and true pattern, and it works wonders. All the materials can be found at 🤍

Ant patterns are a go to in the mountain streams of Alberta, especially later in the season when the fish get a little more picky.
