I did not use finishing passes so some roughness exists. however, given the slight flex in the carriage when in the middle of the gantry, it did not show up in the part like it does in some cases. This project was oak 5.5 x 10 x 1.5 using .125" step-downs, feed of 40 in/min at full RPM on the Makita router. The job ran in 25 minutes. My initial assessment. Performed better than expected considering this is not a 'tight tolerance' machine. I wanted to get a CNC for a long time now. After doing some research I came across 🤍Bobscnc . Reading a bunch of reviews about this cnc I decided to buy one. I time-lapse filmed it with my GoPro. I set it on to take a pic every 2 seconds. By the time I was finished with the build I took 17,450 pic.....WOW!!! When the box came by mail (very quickly). I open it up and it was packed very nicely with a lot of parts. I set myself up in the shop , lied out all the parts and went at it.... The direction are super clear to follow and all the parts fit together without one hiccup. I was super pleased on how well this was designed and the quality of all the parts are top notch, all the way down the the screws and nuts. So if you are looking for a cnc and need something fun to keep you busy though these crazy times get the 🤍Bobscnc . It comes in 4 different sizes ( I believe). This video shows extremely fine detailed engraving using a V-bit on a Bobscnc e4 router project attempt to test my new CNC router bits with BobsCNC CNC router. This is an engraving on wood. I tried to go small with the design in Vectric Vcarve. It didn't expect the Bobs CNC Evolution 4 router to perform this tight. I figure the Evolution 3 (E3) will do exactly the same. I've had the BobsCNC EVO4, E4 for 6 months and it has worked very well with a few limitations, considering it's made of wood. But it has done exceptionally well. This video shows you how to set up the grid cutting Gcode program for the BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC router spoilboard. Grids on the spoil board make it very easy to set up projects without having to position your bit to find zero position. This video refers to the G-code program provided by I.D.C. Woodcraft, available on Etsy to resurface the spoilboard on your BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC router. It explains how to set up the CNC router and run the G-code program. It walks you through step by step how to set X, Y & Z zero and what bit you need to use to resurface the spoilboard. The file discussed here is a plug-and-play G-code file. Resurfacing the spoilboard is a common practice for 2 reasons. First, CNC routers with spoilboards are routinely not perfectly parallel to the motion of the machine. Second, spoilboards are routinely cut into over time, this requiring resurfacing on occasion.
