Archival Research | in Urdu/Hindi language | Research methodology | by Dear Knowledge

Archival research is a method of collecting data from sources that already exist. Common examples of archival research sources are census records or survey data that was collected in the past. Archival research is research involving primary sources held in an archives, a Special Collections library, or other repository. Archival sources can be manuscripts, documents, records (including electronic records), objects, sound and audiovisual materials, or other materials. Archives are important because they provide evidence of activities and tell us more about individuals and institutions. They tell stories. Records weren't usually created for the purpose of historical research so they often provide a less biased account of events than secondary sources. If you're planning to subject your data to statistical analysis, you'll want information that either is, or can be made, quantitative. If the information you're collecting on your participants is largely qualitative, then the archival data should be qualitative as well. The proper techniques for applying Golden's Archival Varnish. GOLDEN Archival Aerosol MSA (Mineral Spirit Acrylic) Varnish w/UVLS provides a finish layer for fine artworks, is removable for conservation purposes, and offers excellent dirt, dust and moisture resistance in a flexible film. It is produced with clear, 100% acrylic solution polymer and contains UltraViolet Light filters and Stabilisers (UVLS) to provide archival protection, inhibiting light damage. These fast-drying, more convenient varnishes are available in Gloss, Satin and Matte finishes. The unique adjustable fan spray tip allows for precise application with reduced overspray. The products adhere to a wide variety of surfaces and paint mediums, including acrylics, oils, alkyds, watercolours, temperas, and ink-jet prints. The 10 fl. oz. cans contain enough product to achieve approximately 25-30 square feet of coverage. • Golden Archival Aerosol MSA Varnish available at Jackson's: 🤍 MSA (Mineral Spirit Acrylic) Varnish with UVLS (UltraViolet Light Stabilisers) is a Mineral Spirit Acrylic-borne resin system. MSA Varnish forms a tougher, less permeable film than waterborne acrylic emulsion varnishes. It reduces dirt penetration and surface marring, offering an extremely level film with less foam and fewer pinholes. Removable with turpentine after drying. Available in Gloss, Satin and Matte. Recommended for either interior or exterior use. For use on acrylics, oils, temperas, watercolours and various other media. Health Labeled (HL) Product. Not for use by children. • Golden MSA Varnish available at Jackson's: 🤍

Here are a few tips for storing old, fragile, or damaged photographs in your collection. Wear cotton or nitrile gloves when handling photos. We recommend using sleeves for fragile photos, archival card stock as a support, if needed, and archival tissue as interleaving for prints in old folios. Tissue can also be used to separate prints in a box that are not in sleeves. Store these items in an archival drop front metal edge box in a climate controlled location in your main living space, such as a shelf or closet. Make sure it is out of direct sunlight.
