SS PzGr Div Wiking. In addition to more from this reel, we’ll continue with the original German combat report that was written by a member of the 7th PzD at the completion of the 3rd Battle of Kharkov in early 1943. We’ll touch on the Grischino Massacre and see some excellent footage of Felix Steiner, Division Wiking’s commander. Finally I’ll show a 1943 parade of a German tank tank in Norway so stick around. This is part 5 in this series covering the battle. You’ll find links to the other parts at the end of this video Page 1 of the report explains the combat operations of three German divisions, the 7th and the 11th PzDs, and the 5. SS Wiking. It’s covered in part 1 of this series. Page two and three of the report are translated Soviet communications describing the strenuous situation that the powerful Mobile Group Popov found itself in. The content of these pages can be found in Part 2, 3 and 4. The series contains plenty of rare Waffen SS footage that you almost certainly have never seen. This is exquisite early footage of the Rgt. Page 4 of the report begins with the Soviet officer’s final communication to his superiors made on February 19 before being overrun. After that is a concluding detailed list of combat losses inflicted on the enemy written by a German officer. All preparations have been made to regain control of the situation around Krassnoarmejskoje. The Commander of the 4th Gard Tank Corps Guard Major General of Armor Polubojarew Chief of Staff of the 4th Guard Tank Corps Guard Colonel Nagaibakow GERMAN REPORT CONTINUES In the time period from 7.1. until and including the 27.2.1943 the following has been captured or destroyed by the 7th Pz.Div. 4 Airplanes 144 Cannons (3 of them rocket launchers) 276 Anti-tank guns 354 Tanks 414 Vehicles 70 Mortars 317 Machineguns 114 Anti-tank rifles a large quantity of small arms 1 Russian field hospital with 8 doctors 2902 soldiers were captured During the 3rd Battle of Kharkov the Soviet losses amounted to 45,000 killed in action and around 41,000 wounded. In comparison the Germans lost 4,500 killed and about 700 wounded. In addition, the following German equipment was retaken Locomotives Transport train Communications train Tank repair garage German tanks Tank destroyers 46 German, Italian and Romanian soldiers and civilians were freed by the division from Soviet captivity. This German report includes documents supposedly captured from the field headquarters of the 4th Guard Tank Corps which had allegedly been responsible for the Grischino Massacre. That the Germans freed 46 soldiers and civilians shows that the 4th Guard Tank Corps had evidently not killed everyone. It’s also odd that this intelligence report written by those who arrived first to scene, doesn’t mention the massacre at all. I would have expected that. We’ll certainly be covering the specific war crimes in depth in future videos. Here we see 5th PzGr Div. Wiking’s commander, Felix Steiner, awarding medals to members of the Regiment Nordland. I believe that it is the Finnish Volunteer Btl. You can see he is wearing the Order of the Cross of Liberty that is a Finnish medal that he was awarded in June of 1942. Steiner was a capable leader who was well liked by his troops. After having the charges against him dropped at Nuremberg, in 1953 he was recruited by the CIA.

It was recruited from foreign volunteers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands and Belgium under the command of German officers. During the course of World War II, the division progressed from a motorised infantry formation to a Panzer division and served on the Eastern Front during World War II. It surrendered in May 1945 to the advancing American forces in Austria.

Elis Höglund, an orphan from abusive upbringing, was a Swedish SS soldier (Waffen SS volunteer in divisions Wiking and Nordland) and Unterscharführer who witnessed massmurders of Jews and other civilians. In Division Nordland & Wiking, he witnessed mass-executions of Jews in Rostov in the Eastern Front by nazis' killing-squads, and was in Kharkov 1943 during heavy battles and warcrimes, where he was also wounded. He grew up an orphan and was at Öland (Sweden) auctioned off to a farmer who abused & beat him, and he got drawn into the NSAP (Nationalsocialistiska Arbetarepartiet, later Svensk Socialistisk Samling, led by swedish wannabe-quisling Sven Olov Lindholm) 1932 and joined the SS during WWII. During the Eastern Front he became disgusted by nazism and was traumatized by the Holocaust actions he saw, and deeply regretted having been in the SS & being a nazi, and said that it was all simply "murder, even if it was called 'war'". After the war, he instead became a member in the anti-fascist SAC Syndikalisterna (a Swedish leftwing syndicalist union) and worked at Öland among other places. This interview shows the horrors of what nazism & fascism does to humans, from the point of view of a former nazi. Höglund had to live with the shame of his nazi past, and regretted his choices back then into his death. Uploaded for educational and anti-nazi purposes with English subtitles! From SVT documentary. Through a series of metrics and statistics, Meik Wiking helps us measure well-being inequalities that lead to gaps between happiness and unhappiness indices. While most research focuses on happiness and quality of life, Meik invites us to reflect upon the other end of those numbers. Meik Wiking heads the Happiness Research Institute which gathers knowledge and theories on what defines happiness and life quality. Meik Wiking is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute, an independent think tank exploring why some societies are happier than others. He has recently published the book Lykken under lup – en opdagelsesrejse i lykkeforskningens verden (Happiness under the magnifying glass: a journey into the world of happiness research). With a background in political science and business, Meik has previously worked on sustainability for the think tank Mandag Morgen. Unboxing the new 2022 John Deere 8R 410 by WIKING in 1/32 scale. Released mid January 2022, these John Deere 8R 410 arrived to the market in 2 variants which are identical aside from the packaging. John Deere dealer box and Wiking standard box. Both models I added to the scale model collection arrived in the dealer boxes at a cost of €85 and these will provide enough HP for all ploughing and sowing duties around the diorama. Wiking have made some changes to their packaging, the model is now placed inside what looks like an egg carton, replacing the moulded styrofoam case which can be assumed an environmental decision over cost cutting. One of the first things I noticed was the absence of a front weight which is a necessary item if attaching a large rear implement, this is definitely cost cutting not forgetting this model comes at a price of €85, it's not cheap. On the real tractor the hazard boards fold backwards, a feature Wiking included on their latest Claas Arion 660 & 650 models, however on this 8R these are fixed in place. Generally very well finished with a more weighty feel by comparison to other tractors from the German brand. Underneath the opening bonnet the detail is minimal and certainly not Wiking's best recreation of an engine especially when you look back at previous models they have released. An area that should have evolved over the years and not regressed considering prices have only gone upwards. Painted lights all round with the exception of the headlights, another item that is long overdue an upgrade given competitors have been doing it for years. The massive wheels are removable using the T-shaped tool provided, rear wheel weights and front hubs are magnetic and easy to fit, this is one of the best features introduced in recent years and one that I hope will continue. Inside the cab there is an opening storage box, a very nice feature to have and something which is new to the Wiking bag of tricks along with a command pro joystick and detailed screen. While not a perfect model, it is sure to be a very popular choice amongst John Deere fans and scale collectors and no doubt one that will fly off the shelves due to the huge following John Deere hold worldwide. Even with some of the cons I have mentioned are there also many pros. Rarely do I would add two identical models to the collection but in this instance I sourced a second piece and both will become the high horsepower work horses of the new diorama. "Sophisticated precision models with their well known richness in detail" is what WIKING said in their most recent press release. 2022 is going to be an interesting year for WIKING to see what direction they take going forward. Generally this is a nice model however closer inspection highlights many areas where that richness of detail is lacking. Functionality is their biggest advantage over the competition and should we see this decline in future releases it will be a sad day for the brand with the danger of simply becoming a Siku Pro line model.
