Connecting the RDM EC9600i network series scanner - Auto Feed “AF” model The EC9600i network scanner AF model includes both USB and Ethernet ports along with corresponding cables, providing you with flexible connectivity options. Once you have connected the power cord to the power supply, connect the other end of the power supply cable to the power port located on the back of the scanner making sure that the flat side of the connector is facing upwards When properly connected, the power cable should click into place. The security sleeve helps to secure the unit and prevents the power cord from being pulled out of the unit accidently. For the EC9600i auto-feed model you can connect your scanner directly to a computer via USB or on to a network via Ethernet. To connect your scanner directly to your computer: 1) Plug the USB cable provided into the USB port on the back of the scanner and plug the other end into the USB port on your computer To connect to your scanner over a network you have two options: 1) plug the ethernet cable into one of the ethernet ports on the back of the scanner and plug the other end into a dedicated Ethernet network jack. 2) Alternatively, if you do not have an available network jack, you can connect your computer to the network through your EC9600i network scanner. To do this, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer and connect it to one of the two Ethernet ports on your scanner. Then using the Ethernet cable that was included in the scanner box, connect one end to the other Ethernet port in the back of your scanner and the other end of the of the cable to the Ethernet port on your computer. Now both your computer and scanner are connected to the network. NOTE: If you are on a managed network, you may need to contact your network administrator to add your scanner as a new device on the network so that you can access the scanner from your scanning application. Caution: Turning off the power or disconnecting the scanner from a power source while the scanner is processing a transaction might cause data loss. Do not turn off or disconnect the scanner until the scanner has completed scanning all documents in the transport. It is recommended to first disconnect other cables to allow better access to power connector. When Disconnecting power cable hold the unit firmly in place with one hand to prevent the unit from falling. With your other hand, slide the power cord security sleeve back and pull the power cord free of the scanner.
