In accordance with the internationally established definition, freezing means the solidification phase change of a liquid or the liquid content of a substance, usually due to cooling. Although some authors differentiate solidification from freezing as a process where a liquid turns into a solid by increasing the pressure, the two terms are used interchangeably. For most substances, the melting and freezing points are the same temperature; however, certain substances possess differing solid–liquid transition temperatures. For example, agar displays a hysteresis in its melting point and freezing point. It melts at 85 °C (185 °F) and solidifies from 32 °C to 40 °C (89.6 °F to 104 °F).

Cryonics is an experimental area of research in which the bodies of the clinically dead are frozen at -196C so they can later be resuscitated by future medical advances. People in the industry concede that there is no guarantee of future revival and the procedure itself has long faced scepticism from medical experts. But Cryonics devotees, including their many high-profile clients, are willing to take the gamble for a chance for life after death. My second time experimenting with supercooling water. What is supercooling? Supercooling is the process of lowering the temperature of a liquid or gas below it's freezing point without it becoming a solid (Wikipedia). Upon agitating the liquid, it quickly freezes. I did this with an unopened bottle of Fiji water.

Since early times, farmers, fishermen, and trappers have preserved grains and produce in unheated buildings during the winter season. Freezing food slows down decomposition by turning residual moisture into ice, inhibiting the growth of most bacterial species. In the food commodity industry, there are two processes: mechanical and cryogenic (or flash freezing). The freezing kinetics is important to preserve the food quality and texture. Quicker freezing generates smaller ice crystals and maintains cellular structure. Cryogenic freezing is the quickest freezing technology available due to the ultra low liquid nitrogen temperature −196 °C (−320 °F).Preserving food in domestic kitchens during modern times is achieved using household freezers. Accepted advice to householders was to freeze food on the day of purchase. An initiative by a supermarket group in 2012 (backed by the UK's Waste & Resources Action Programme) promotes the freezing of food "as soon as possible up to the product's 'use by' date". The Food Standards Agency was reported as supporting the change, providing the food had been stored correctly up to that time.

Foods Which Should Not Be Kept In The Fridge - Refrigerator Tips - Kitchen Tips in Tamil Refrigerator was invented to keep the medicines and uncooked food safe. But many people are using the fridge without knowing how to use it. Even in our homes we store the leftover food in the fridge and take it the next day. Most of us are unaware which foods can be stored and how long it can be stored in the fridge. If we reheat the food kept in the fridge and eat it creates many health problems. In this video we are going to see which foods should not kept in the fridge and why. Don't keep the cut fruits in the fridge as it may increase the impact of germs. Instead keep the fruit in the fridge and cut it when needed. Pickle should not kept in fridge as it get spoiled and generally bacterial growth in more in foods for a longer period. You should not keep hot foods in the fridge as its heat will spread inside the fridge and spoil other foods. Don't keep the boiled milk in the fridge as it will get spoiled. Bring the milk packet kept in the fridge to room temperature and then boil it. Some people store meat or chicken in the fridge. As bacterias are present in the meat it may spread to other foods. So it is better to avoid refregerating meat or chicken. If we refrigerate onions the folic acid and quercetin nutrition diminishes and it also cause a foul smell. There is no need to refrigerate onion. Honey should not be refrigerated as it loses its originality. Bread should not be kept in fridge as it becomes dry , instead keep in an airtight bag. The cut pieces of watermelon and musk melon can be refrigerated for 1 or 2 days and if it exceeds it will lose the nutrients. Some people refrigerate coffee or tea. It reduces the taste as well as the caffeine present in coffee many become poisonous. Separate place should be kept for storing Medicines like insulin. Chemical reactions may take place as some people store meat, flowers near these medicines. Garlic should not stored in fridge as it may get spoiled. Instead of refrigerating coriander leaves and curry leaves store it in a bowl with water and it will stay fresh. If it is kept in fridge it loses its nutrients. Jam need not refrigerated as it already crosses many stages of processing during its production. If we keep potatoes in fridge it causes allergy. Instead it can be stored in paper bags but avoid storing vegetables in plastic bags as it get spoiled soon. The latest massacres in Bucha and Mariupol have shown that Vladimir Putin has no regard for human life – he only cares about power and money. In Putin’s eyes, money is power, and vice versa. That’s why freezing the assets of Russians tied to Putin’s regime is so important. Between 1996 and 2005, American investor Bill Browder ran the largest foreign investment firm in Russia, until he was declared ‘a threat to Russian national security’ and got kicked out of the country. Browder has spent the last 14 years trying to understand the dark money flowing out of Russia. In 'Freezing Order' – translated into Dutch as Achtervolgd door de staatsmaffia for publisher Atlas Contact – Browder tells the story of his quest to establish a global regime for imposing sanctions on Russians involved in corruption and criminality. This global regime came with the realization of the Magnitsky Act, named after Browder’s lawyer Sergei Magnitsky who was arrested, tortured, and died in Russian police custody. Bill Browder joined us live on stage on May 13th, 2022.......

This is a variant of the simulation 🤍 with similar parameter values, but a different graphical representation: particles are connected by lines to their neighbors within a fixed distance, to make the crystalline structures more visible. Thanks to Florian Theil for suggesting this. The simulation shows 2545 particles interacting with a Lennard-Jones potential, and coupled to a thermostat, the temperature of which is lowered and raised several times. The first rather fast lowering of temperature, known as "quenching", produces a crystalline structure with many defects. By raising and lowering the temperature several times, each time with a smaller maximal temperature, one allows the particles to rearrange in a better way. This principle is at the basis of the algorithm known as "simulated annealing", which helps minimizing the energy of a system with many local energy minima: 🤍 The color of the particles represents the number of neighbors they are connected to. Blue particles have more neighbors than cyan, yellow, orange and red ones. The thermostat used here is the "Nosé-Hoover-Langevin" algorithm introduced by Ben Leimkuhler, Emad Noorizadeh and Florian Theil, see reference below. The idea of the algorithm is to couple the momenta of the system to a single random process, which fluctuates around a temperature-dependent mean value. Lower temperatures lead to lower mean values. The temperature shown on the top right is in fact the temperature multiplied by Boltzmann's constant. To save on computation time, particles are placed into a "hash grid", each cell of which contains between 3 and 10 particles. Then only the influence of other particles in the same or neighboring cells is taken into account for each particle. The Lennard-Jones potential is strongly repulsive at short distance, and mildly attracting at long distance. It is widely used as a simple yet realistic model for the motion of electrically neutral molecules. The force results from the repulsion between electrons due to Pauli's exclusion principle, while the attractive part is a more subtle effect appearing in a multipole expansion. For more details, see 🤍 Statistical physics provides us of a rather good understanding of the dynamics of gases (ideal and non-ideal ones such as the Van der Waals gas), and of crystal lattices. Some phase transitions are also rather well understood, for instance why magnets lose their magnetization when heated. It is however much more difficult to model transitions between gaseous and solid phases, when freely moving particles tend to form regular arrangements when cooled down. Thanks to 🤍 for supporting MinutePhysics - get 20% a premium subscription at 🤍 Support MinutePhysics on Patreon! 🤍 Link to Patreon Supporters: 🤍 This video is about compressed air cans (aka gas dusters) and why they get cold when you spray them. They cool off because the refrigerant inside (1,1-difluoroethane) is under pressure and boils off when the pressure lowers, and energy lost to the latent heat of vaporization cools the can a lot. Difluoroethane normally boils at -25°C (-13°F), but under ~6 atm (6 bar, 600 kpa) it is a liquid at room temperature. The gas also cools off slightly due to the Joule-Thompson effect of fluid expansion through a throttled valve. Difluoroethane is heavier than air and water soluble, so it is recommended to use it in a ventilated environment to clean your keyboard, etc. Also, 1,1-difluoroethane is a potent greenhouse gas. It is also known as Freon 152a, Ethylidene difluoride, Ethylidene fluoride, HFC-152a, R-152a, and DFE. Thanks to Tino and Hannah! Discover how the English Channel Tunnel was built and the engineering challenges of building a 200 kilometer long tunnel underwater. Flanked by two powerful nations, the English Channel has long been one of the world’s most important maritime passages. Yet for most of its history, crossing was a dangerous prospect. Engineers proposed numerous plans for spanning the gap, including a design for an underwater passage more than twice the length of any existing tunnel. Alex Gendler details the creation of the Channel Tunnel. Lesson by Alex Gendler, directed by Studio Kimchi. Lyrics: You only see what your eyes want to see How can life be what you want it to be You're frozen When your heart's not open You're so consumed with how much you get You waste your time with hate and regret You're broken When your heart's not open Mmmmmm, if I could melt your heart Mmmmmm, we'd never be apart Mmmmmm, give yourself to me Mmmmmm, you hold the key Now there's no point in placing the blame And you should know I suffer the same If I lose you My heart will be broken Love is a bird, she needs to fly Let all the hurt inside of you die You're frozen When your heart's not open Mmmmmm, if I could melt your heart Mmmmmm, we'd never be apart Mmmmmm, give yourself to me Mmmmmm, you hold the key You only see what your eyes want to see How can life be what you want it to be You're frozen When your heart's not open Mmmmmm, if I could melt your heart Mmmmmm, we'd never be apart Mmmmmm, give yourself to me Mmmmmm, you hold the key If I could melt your heart Mmmmmm, we'd never be apart Mmmmmm, give yourself to me Mmmmmm, you hold the key If I could melt your heart #OfficialMusicVideo #Madonna #Frozen #WeAreWarnerRecords
