The B-1B Lancer is a highly versatile, multi-mission weapon system. The B-1B Bomber synthetic aperture radar is capable of tracking, targeting and engaging moving vehicles as well as self-targeting and terrain-following modes. Carrying the largest conventional payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory, the multi-mission B-1 bomber aircrafts is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time. The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy aircraft used by the United States Air Force (USAF). It is commonly called the "Bone" (from "B-One"). The USAF had 66 B-1Bs in service as of September 2012. The B-1B is expected to continue to serve into the 2030s, with the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider to begin replacing the B-1B after 2025. The B-1s currently in inventory will reach the end of their service lives by 2045. Video Credits: U.S. Air Force | United States Department of Defense ►Subscribe Now 🤍
A documentary about the The Rockwell B-1 Lancer, a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. From the B-1A prototypes to the B-1B. The Lancer It is commonly called the "Bone" (from "B-One"). It is one of three strategic bombers serving in the U.S. Air Force fleet along with the B-2 Spirit and the B-52 Stratofortress as of 2022. The video also features the story of the B-17 Bomber The B-1 was first envisioned in the 1960s as a platform that would combine the Mach 2 speed of the B-58 Hustler with the range and payload of the B-52, and was meant to ultimately replace both bombers. After a long series of studies, Rockwell International (now part of Boeing) won the design contest for what emerged as the B-1A. This version had a top speed of Mach 2.2 at high altitude and the capability of flying for long distances at Mach 0.85 at very low altitudes. The combination of the high cost of the aircraft, the introduction of the AGM-86 cruise missile that flew the same basic speed and distance, and early work on the stealth bomber all significantly reduced the need for the B-1. This led to the program being canceled in 1977, after the B-1A prototypes had been built. The program was restarted in 1981, largely as an interim measure due to delays in the B-2 stealth bomber program. This led to a redesign as the B-1B, which differed from the B-1A by having a lower top speed of Mach 1.25 at high altitude, but improved the low-altitude speed to Mach 0.96. The electronics were also extensively improved, and the airframe was improved to allow takeoff with the maximum possible fuel and weapons load. Deliveries of the B-1B began in 1986 and formally entered service with Strategic Air Command (SAC) as a nuclear bomber that same year. By 1988, all 100 aircraft had been delivered. With the disestablishment of SAC and its reassignment to the Air Combat Command in 1992, the B-1B was converted for a conventional bombing role. It first served in combat during Operation Desert Fox in 1998 and again during the NATO action in Kosovo the following year. The B-1B has supported U.S. and NATO military forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. As of 2021 the Air Force has an inventory of 45 B-1Bs. The Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider is to begin replacing the B-1B after 2025; all B-1s are planned to be retired by 2036. Russia is boiling : 5 units of B-1B Lancer are Ready to Deploy to Poland-Ukraine Border US plans to deploy several B-1B Lancers to poland as part of ongoing security operations. This deployment was carried out in response to increasing tensions in the region and to protect the nato allies from various threats. Another goal of deploying the B-1B Lancer aircraft to Europe is to enhance NATO's defense capabilities and protect United States interests in the region. B-1B Lancer aircraft itself is a long-range bomber capable of carrying nuclear and conventional weapons and can perform reconnaissance missions.
The Rockwell B-1B Bancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. This B-1B Lancer is one of three strategic bombers to serve in the U.S. Air Force fleet along with the B-2 Spirit and B-52 Stratofortress in 2022. The US Air Force has announced that the B-1B Lancer would be phased out in favor of the new B-21 Raider stealth bomber. The B-1B bomber is a nuclear-weapons deterrence weapon. However, as the Cold War ended and the Soviet Union fell apart, its nuclear mission was lost. The B-1B will be phased out in 2036 when the B-21 Raider enters service. Ironically, the B-1B will join the B-52 in the grave before its replacement is due. In reality, if the B-21 program is delayed or if strategic conditions change, the air force will maintain the B-1B in service longer, just as the B-52 would be kept in service beyond its planned retirement date. When the remaining B-1Bs are retired, the United States will no longer have special bombers capable of supersonic flight.

How good is the B 1 Lancer? Reagan once again revived the dead bomber, this time with a few changes in its design and use. While older aircraft had survived simply by outrunning Soviet defenses, the new B 1 would avoid detection altogether, slipping into enemy territory by flying low to the ground, where radar would have trouble distinguishing it from terrain. #shorts #usmilitary #usairforce The new B 1B Lancer was undoubtedly a looming threat to the Soviet Union. With a combat radius of 3,000 miles without refueling, the ability to refuel mid-flight, and a payload capacity of 125,000 pounds, the Lancer could deliver nuclear payloads anywhere on the planet. The only problem was, the Soviet Union and the threat of nuclear war had both fallen by the early 1990s. The nuclear-capable B 1B had finally found its way into service, but now it didn't have a mission.

The mighty powerful Rockwell B-1 Lancer seen here taking off from RAF Fairford on Monday 5th September 2016, making the air vibrate, causing all the car alarms in the car park to go off. Tremendous power from those four huge afterburning engines! Great watching the burners slowly ignite from the rear perspective as the power was increased. I noticed the light up process was similar to the Tornado jet.
The B-1B was a legend that started its career as a nuclear bomber during the height of the Cold War. The B-1B's speed and superior handling characteristics allow it to seamlessly integrate in mixed force packages. These capabilities, when combined with its substantial payload, excellent radar targeting system, long loiter time and survivability, make the B-1B a key element of any joint/composite strike force. The B-1B evolved from the B-1A, which itself rose from the ashes of the B-70 Valkyrie. The U.S. strategic bomber development stalled out in the 1960s, as concerns about Soviet SAM defenses forced the U S A F to reinvent its mission concept. Fast, high-flying bombers fell out of favor, but the air force still wanted a supersonic bomber. The Nixon administration was more flexible on this question than the Johnson administration, and studies began in 1969. The first prototype flew in 1974. As designed, the B-1A could exceed mach 2 at high altitude, mach 1.2 at low altitude. Even then, the B-1 remained controversial. U.S. intel suggested that Soviet radars were improving, making the low altitude penetration mission riskier. The Carter administration cancelled the B-1A in an effort to cut costs and make the defense budget more efficient. President Ronald Reagan resurrected the bomber as the B-1B, and the B-1A was reworked into the B-1B which was slower, somewhat less expensive and had a smaller RCS, and 100 B-1B bombers were built. #shorts #youtubeshorts #b1lancer #usairforce #history
